Not Quite Making the Cut

I decided to post the cards that just didn't make the cut for the Paper Dolls Challenge. Since I went through the trouble of making them, I might as well share them. Maybe it'll make someone else smile.

I wasn't too thrilled with the color combo on this card. Everything felt a little flat. I put dimensional glue on the bird and tree image to give it some texture. To make the mat for the Mat Stack die, I just traced the die-cut onto the paper and then cut around it with scissors, leaving a small margin around the pencil mark. The die-cut shape was pretty easy to follow.

I threaded the buttons with DMC embroidery floss. I have a ton of them from my cross-stitching days. It's so nice to know that I can find some use for them again.

This one was okay, but there was just something missing for me. Not sure what. I like the combination of brown and Terracotta Tile. It makes for a masculine card. To draw the oval around the tree, I left the paper in the nesties die and ran a brown pen around the inside of the die.

Love having the grouping of buttons. Never knew I'd become such a button girl.

Here's the inside. I just stamped the matching image from Beyond Basic Borders. One of the things I love about Papertrey Ink is how many of the sets can coordinate with each other.

Thanks for stopping by! You still have time to participate in our first Paper Dolls challenge. Laurie's sketch is really fun.

  8. Hi Michelle! Your cards are great! On the first one, I love how you added the dimensional glue. I love that stuff but it's not something I see used very often. On the 2nd one, I love the color combo and the tree image. I can't believe you thread your buttons! (I don't have much patience for that.)
